We cannot wait for you to hear this episode with the lovely Meg Hunter-Kilmer because it is all about Lent and we know it will get you  excited to begin this important season of the Christian Year!

Meg is, in her words,  a “hobo missionary.” Trained in theology at Notre Dame, she travels all over the world as a Catholic speaker and evangelizer. In this episode we got back to basics and asked Meg all the big questions about observing Lent. Why does the Church have Lent before the Easter season? How do newbies to Lent start out in practicing it? How do we decide what to give up? What are some resources and books to help us focus spiritually in this season? And more!

We were so inspired after talking to Meg that we are ready to jump in and really give Lent our all. We know you’ll love this episode, too!

In this episode we talked about:

Meg’s Lenten Boot Camp

  1. I absolutely loved this podcast! I’ve been feeling a little lost, spiritually, lately and am looking forward to the Lent season to find my way back to the Faith and Our Lord. Meg’s explanations of Lent and what we can do for Lent really got me excited to start this journey rediscovering Jesus! Thank you for all of the resources and emphasizing that it is OK to fail, we need only to pick ourselves up and keep going.

  2. Really enjoyed this podcast – in fact I listened to it twice before compiling a lent list. I particularly liked the idea of reading particular books during Lent. I’m reading:
    Sheila Cassidy- audacity to believe.
She was a British doctor , considering her religious vocation . Whilst working in Chile in 1970s she was tortured by the Pinochet regime. She survived. Excellent book. Amazing reading about the work of the Church in the slums just after the 1973 coup

    Next I’m going to read
    The diaries of Etty Hilseum.
Pope Benedict was a “fan” of hers. I saw a play about her last week. She really wrestled with faith.

May also tackle a book by Timothy Radcliffe OP which is sitting on the bookshelf.

Will also re-read House of Brede – which I loved.
